OCR: ROBOTS IN FILM THE LAWS OF ROBOTICS INTERPLANETARY SPACECRAFT The Orion vessel outlawed Orion was developed in the 1960s by General Dynamics. The module is also known as a nuclear pulse rocket, because a quarter million tiny atomic bombs would be stored on-board as propellant. The craft would jettison these miniature nuclear bombs at predetermined distances. Then, protected by an impact absorbing shield, the Orion module would utilize the force of the explosions to achieve forward motion. It has been calculated that the Orion vehicle could reach 1.6% of light-speed in less than a week. Prototype models were tested. Unfortunately, the findings clearly indicated that the vehicle is very instable. Worse, chances of it exploding are extremely high. In 1963, the Orion project was definitively abandoned when international treaties were signed prohibiting all nuclear explosions in space. MARS BETAT
